Hydrophobic surfaces

A surface is described as "hydrophobic" or "water repellent" if the contact angle between a drop of water and the surface is greater than 90°. On a hydrophobic surface, drops of water retain their spherical shape which makes it difficult for them to undermine dirt particles adhereing to the surface. If Photoment® is used in concrete blocks, the block surface is rendered "superhydrophilic" which causes the water to lose its drop shape and spread out over the surface, so dirt particles can be undermined and flushed off more easily.
