Glossary - O

Ozone is a harmful, almost colorless gas which is formed in the higher strata of atmosphere (ozone layer), where it protects the earth from the sun's ultraviolet radiation. As a result of photochemical processes occurring in the presence of sunlight, precursor pollutants, e.g. nitrogen oxides can be converted to ozone also in the ground level layers of the atmosphere. The photocatalytic reaction on Photoment® surfaces reduces the nitrogen oxide concentration which helps to improve the quality of air and life.
